Hello! I work in family practice. I'm wondering if anyone can help me with either a helpful book or website when ordering tests, imaging etc. for patient. Often our docs will say order CT Chest and then will give DX and walk out of the room but when you have 14 more patients to call back and you aren't really sure if this patient is going to be w or wo contrast?!?! Eek!! Prior auth! Ack! It's frustrating! It would save some time and then once muscle memory kicks in it would be awesome on what to order!! Hope this makes sense.

    You get to pick the entity that you send the patient to. The good ones will do the prior auth for you if you send over the MD notes along with the referral form. They often will also contact the patient to schedule the appointment. If you aren't sure on the order you must do what you would do with any order....get clarification from the physician.
