well i am here early so why not take this time to bring you up to speed. we are hauling a@@. we are doing anatomy of the resp and injected anesthetics it's fun. we watched a video where a speech pathologist stuck a camera down his own phaynx and gave us a tour of the larynx. watching the laryx move when he talked and laughed was almost freaky. like its, its own little animal back there. he showed us his rima glottidis up close with a stroble light and as he hummed it showed the vibration of the vocal fold it the most awsome detail. also you could see some reinke's edema due to his GERD. it was the most amazing thing ive seen yet.
in lab we learned to leak test the machine and we went through the entire induction sequence up to incision. the lab instructor is making us squeez the bag longer and to show us what it is like when your waiting for the nondepolerizoing neuromuscular blocker to reach effect-site equilbration. what a blast. i hear though at my clinical residecy site the students are working 70+ hours a week... yeesh :/ I better enjoy these 10 am mornings..
matt
p.s. of course when i say he showed us his rima glottidis iam just showing off. cuz we all now theres nothing to see. lol
