Hi all,
I am an IEN trying to get licensure in Canada. I received a "somewhat comparable" result from the CNO/NNAS. There are a few threads that all of that has changed and you can ask CNO to re-evaluate my nursing skills, by giving one's practice of nursing as a proof to meet gaps.
Also I have been working as a care provider in Canada for about a year. Not sure if that can be used as a proof to meet the gaps.
Has anyone been able to do that here? Any help would be highly appreciated.
FYI: Getting a RPN licensure was fast-forward however. So, anyone who is trying to get your RN, I'd say its worth also applying for RPN.

The somewhat comparable results on your advisory report is from NNAS only, did you apply to CNO after you received your advisory report? if so, what did CNO advise you to do?
Your work as a care provider does not count as licensed nursing work and cannot be used as proof of practice or as proof to meet the competency gaps. Did you work as a RN in your home country? Was your work experience within the past three years?

What country did you receive your nursing education?
Don't worry about appealing and getting re-assessed. Just apply to CNO and they will give you the opportunity to submit your nursing work experience (nursing only) and they will determine whether it is satisfactory to have met the education requirements.

Hi RN_Pro and dishes, Thanks a ton for the quick reply. Not so quick from my end :) Apologies. Yes I also applied to CNO and they asked me to sit the IENCAP exam which I am planning to apply for. It just seems that it is very popular and the seats don't last long :)
Assuming I get to register for the exam, any recommendations on how to prepare. I understand that there is a session given by touch institue which I am def. attending but any other course online/otherwise, books that you guys can recommend.
Hi RN_Pro, I forgot to mention I graduated from Nepal, with a 2 year RN experience in my country. I also came across your post here: https://allnurses.com/nurse-registration/iencap-1085943.html . This is sort of what I had heard as well but just could not completely confirm.

Hello ManJeet
I also applied to be an RN but now i'm thinking of applying as RPN. How long did it take? and did they ask you to resend documents? I would really LOOOOVE to hear from you as i'm tired of waiting for my Letter of direction!
