I moved the thread to the Nure Entrepreneur Forum.

There is much research on this, one of my favorite topics Let's see what my colleagues can say.

It sounds like you have found a position? YOu should propbably talk with an acountant for help with medicaid and meidcare payments.

Let us know how we can help.

Teddybear.....I am independently contracted with a Medicaid Waiver Program--I bill the contracting agency for my services each month and my fees are paid through a State funding program which is linked directly to Medicaid. I have held contracts like this with my State for the past seven years and just recently decided not to renew one contract d/t extreme scheduling conflicts. (I am a VERY busy self-employed nurse!)

I may suggest that you contact your regional Medicaid office to see what kind of contractural nursing opportunities they might have in your area.

Let us know how you make out.

Ok thanks on update on how to move things...lol

Teddy--find the Home and Community Based Waiver Program for your area. You should be able to access this information from any Senior Center or Council on Aging. You can access information regarding Mediciad programs at the U.S. Government Health and Human Services website.

Hope this helps-

Our business started with my wife being an independent medicaide provider. Instead of working for local agencies she had her own provider number directly with medicaid. She would submit her own paperwork directly and get paid directly from medicaid. Cut out the middle man. If that worked for her with medicaid, I figured it could work with hospitals and it has.

Thanks for the additional info! What else do you care to share about working with Medicaid Waiver Contracts?

Is she a NP or some other type of APN?

In case David does not see this right away, it is my understanding she is an RN.

Thanks, I guessesed that much. But is she a Nurse Practioner ?(NP) or some other type of Advance Practice Nurse (APN). If not how is it she bills directly?

I know of a Diabetic educator in town who is an RN without being an (APN) she bills certain agencies such as the county and VA. Home health agencies who bill directly, but it was my understanding that an RN could not bill directly on her own without being an APN, or without owning a Home Health Agency. It is my understanding that I cannot do homecare or private duty on my own and expect to be able to bill directly. (or anything else for that matter, except diabetic educator)

I also understood that an RN cannot call herself a Health Care Provider. Unless she is an APN. This was reserved for Physicians, Chiropractors, NP, PA, etc.

I am not being aruementative. I WANT to understand this. It is very important to know that we can bill direct. ANd I need to learn how to do this.

I simply cannot stay in the employee mode. Too stressful.

Help please.
