I have a question...

I have a question..I have passed the NCLEX examination in the Philippines and registered at California, I would like to work in New Jersey and I have filed for a reciprocity. Would I be approved even if I do not have SSN yet? What should I do to obtain my license in CAlifornia?

If you are not already in the US and with a visa that will permit you to work, then you are not actually licensed in the US; all that you have is a letter stating that you have passed the exam.

If you wish to work in NJ, then you are going to have to use the License by Examination application to them and have CA submit the proof of passing of the exam to them.

We do not have reciprocity between licenses in the US, only the exam has that; it means that it is accepted in all 50 states but you are still going to need to meet the requirements for the NJ BON as well. They also require that you get the CES done thru CGFNS before they will even look at your application and do be aware that they do not issue a license either without the SSN#.

Not sure how you filed for reciprocity since we do not have that, nor do you have a license to actually endorse. They will not issue a license to you without the SSN#. And if you have not completed the CES, they are not going to do one thing with your application.

You are unable to get licensed in CA until you have made it thru the immigration process and are ready to begin work in the US. You actually have to go to a Social Security Administration office in person to file for it and need proof that you can begin to work. So there is nothing that you can do to get the license at this time.

Best of luck to you.
