I study everyday dont go out on the weekends invest all my time into school and still fail. Ive tried different study methods talked to my professors and everything. Ive cried everyday im overwhelmed by all the info we have to know but i try to take it alittle at a time. I feel like im not going to pass. Does anyone have any suggestions or ways you got through nursing school?

Hi, well first and foremost let me tell you not to give up! I failed my TEAS nursing entrance exam last Wednesday & I have been crying ever since. So, I have decided to give up. I can retake the test but I won't...I couldn't take failing it again. Anyway, please consider yourself really fortunate to be living your dream. You have to give it all you've got to make it. Maybe get with a study group;they might be able to help you on things you don't understand. Also, I can tell you from experience that flashcards worked for me when I was getting my business degree at UNO. I may have used hundreds, but they really helped. Most importantly, post your concerns here at allnurses.com. They are wonderful here. They supported me when I was unsure about returning to school to pursue nursing. They will give you as much info and support you need right now. also, don't forget to thank God for your accomplishment of being in nursing school. He works in wondrous ways and will guide you. Just take a dream breath and relax. You have already started the journey, and they are waiting for you on that stage! Good luck!
p.s. Do it for you and for those of us who have lost the dream.
Thanks for the advice. Im sorry to hear about your TEAS test. The entrance test was a killer I remember. I would suggest taking it again. Ive never failed anything in my life until now and Im taking it really hard I guess. Dont give up on your dream either. I failing anatomy and physiology. Anatomy is kicking my ass!! All these muscles and nerves I usually just cry b/c everyone else seems to know what they are doing and I look so dumb. Im trying to make flashcards now but the test is friday and I feel like Im not retaining anything especially in lab. I hope I get pass by the grace of GOD it seems impossible.
Thanks. I too never failed something as important as this before so it is hurting just as it hurt Wednesday. Look at the time and I am still up crying about it. Well, just as I was head strong about going back to school for nursing, I am head strong about never coming back. I've been telling myself. Silly sandy, nursing school is for smart kids!
You on the other hand are just adjusting to nursing school. I have read here that it is far different than regular college.once you get the ropes, you will be doing fine! Try your best for Fridays test. Take this week to study as much as possible.by all means, DONT GIVE UP! You have made it as far as the audience, I never made it to the parking lot. Your next step is the stage! Wow, you would think I have been there, done that!
Be positive! Obviously you have what it takes.

it's normal to feel this way.
when i first started nursing school, i have no idea what to expect. but then, time flies and you learn to cope with things. which course are you failing? it would be better if you talk to your professor about this. that's what i did. luckily, i wasn't the only person in this situation and i didn't fail! yay! maybe you can ask a friend who'se good to tutor you so that you'll have a better grasp of the subject matter.
yes, the stuff you have to know is overwhelming. you have to have a great (not only good) memory to remember things. we're the "easier" counterpart of med school. you have to learn to comprehend things well (not memorize) so that you'll remember most things even after school.
if after all these and nothing, maybe you should ask yourself if you're willing to try harder. nursing is NOT for everyone. maybe you should look for other options because you're just starting and harder stuff are on your way.

I am sure you don't look "dumb." We're all in this together here! Spend as much time as you can in the cadaver lab and make sure to bring the lists from Moodle with you. Try covering the names of structures with post its (in your atlas) and see how many you can name in the atlas before going into lab. I make flashcards from the power point lectures and that helped me tremendously the last test. I don't do well in huge study groups, so I tend to shy away from peak lab times but if you think it will help, get some people you know together to help. I'd be happy to meet up with you this week. I'll send you a private message.
As for physiology, I'm struggling myself and I've taken 2 semesters of anatomy and physiology before. It's like no other class I've had! Many of us are having difficulty with phys, so you're definitely not alone there.
If you weren't intelligent, you sure wouldn't have gotten into LSU, right? I feel dumb sometimes too because some people are so quick to grasp the concepts (like in phys test review) but some of us just take more time to get it. I'm definitely not used to getting anything below a "B" let alone failing a test. I keep telling myself to just pass this semester, get through it, you want this... I'll probably keep saying that until graduation.
Hang in there! Many of us would be happy to help.
Thanks Chapookie. Im in the cadaver lab everyday now. Since I failed the 1st test I need to be in there everyday but it still just seems to be over my head. I can use all the help I can get. I know alot of people are having trouble with phys. but I just feel like Im doing the worst. Im making flashcards now for anatomy so I hope it helps. Ive heard that some ppl have already withdrew b/c they couldnt take it but I know im supposed to be here Im just having a rough start or shall I say semester.
