You will do fine! I know it seems overwhelming but remain calm and keep focused. Have you tried making up your own practice exams so you can practice writing out the answers? I don't know how I myself would do on a written exam. Sounds tough. Honestly, all of the A&P stuff just seems like so much information but I am finding that the effort I put into it is paying off...in other words, I am actually remembering what everything does and what everything is for and the content overlaps into other subjects the closer I get to the program so it's worth the studying. Another thing to keep in mind is that the first test is always like getting a feel for the prof. You have room for some error your first exam as you can pull your grade up later throughout the semester but this way you will get an idea as to how your teacher puts the tests together and what s/he is looking for as far as answers and detail. By written do you mean short-answer/essay? If so, the best strategy I have found for these types of tests is when you see the test question, think of everything you know that is related to that question, and include all of it in your answer. Even if your answer is not 100% complete, you'll usually get at least partial credit for including as much as you can remember.

To study, what works best for me is to read over my notes, and then recite them out loud to myself without looking at them. Then I look at the notes and highlight what I forgot to say, so i can review that information again.

I always make notecards. It takes a long time but I find that re-writting the info reinforces it. I carry them with me for quick study time and I can pull out the ones that I have trouble with and read them just before a test.

i've found out that my test friday is 50 questions long, and have only 45 minutes to do it in, all written exam! thats less than one minute a question, how scary is that? omg i hope i pass, i'm so crazy nervous!!

by written, do you mean a lab practical such as identifications and naming the functions? well, you shouldn't stress so much... i feel like the more one is worried about their exam the more harder it is to focus on studying. but anyways, try reading the material from the book and highlighting all the main facts.. so later when you study for the exam, you'll just review all the highlighted materials. good luck!

I agree with Megsd. I think if you just keep reading over and over your not learning your just reading. For me to really get something I have to eventually put the notes down and start reciting it from memory.

Dont Memorize it, Understand it. Take the time to really understand each part and try and put it all together in one big picture. visualize everything going on in a cell and if you get to something you dont know or understand look it up figure it out and then become enlightened as to what the function of that part is. I always hated memorization... note cards are useless in understanding something and if you understand it then you'll by default have memorized everything.

I feel your pain, I'm currently in an accelerated A&P. So far we've took 2 15 question quizes, 1 60 question lab test on the entire skelton, and our first 100 question exam. I had to wait for someone to drop the class before I could register, by the time they did I had already missed 3 classes which put me 3 weeks behind.

My very first class, they had a quiz. I had to take it because there were no make up. I studied for 2 hours and recived 100%. I've recived 100% on every test since, exept the big exam, I got a 96%. (still not the 100% I shoot for) but my point is, if there is any free time in your day, study. You wouldnt belive the amount of time I use to study anatomy, and I also have 3 other classes. I maintain an A average in all my classes, which means I had to learn a good way for me to balance anatomy, all my other classes, my husband, and daughter! As long as your determined, you can do it. I'm living proof.:smilecoffeecup:
