Hello. I have a few questions in the regard to the Hubbard Tank. I have never seen a Hubbard Tank in real life, and am very curious. I know this tank was invented in the year of 1928 by the American Engineer Carl Hubbard! This tank use to be used in the management of a patient with severe burns but in 1979 research showed that is was essentially like giving a Patient a bath in a bacterial soup. The Hubbard Tank was used for helping the patient who was recovering from polio. I am not sure how much these tanks are used now days but I have several questions.

1: how did the agitators work? Were they things that moved around in the water, or were they the same thing as the whirlpool in the tank l?

2 How did the hoist work? Was it electric?

3: Have the Hubbard Tanks from today advanced AT ALL From what they were back in the 60s and the 70s?

4: Did the hoses in the tank get driven by the whirlpool or were they connected to the Faucet? Thank You so much and God Bless.

I saw one as a student in 1990 and I remember this grouchy old nun moving patients in and out of this huge metal hot tub with the hoyer lift like it was nothing. She did change the water. Doctors would send really stinky pts to PT for a bath. I guess she had a right to be cranky.
