How to start..??

Hi, it's my first time to post and ask heaps of questions so please forgive me if I'll be asking too much.=)

I'm working as a registered nurse here in New Zealand. I work at a level 5 psychogeriatrics hospital. I was hoping to get a registration in the US and take the nclex exam as part of the requirements, however, a.) I'm not sure if my work experience is going to be accredited as a special area there in the US.

b.) if not, is it a wise move to move in a hospital setting? ie: medical/surgical, paediatrics or like such?

c.) if yes, I'm planning to take up a masters in mental health.
