How safe do you think this is?

I want to move back to South FL...specifically Cape Coral.I love the sun shine, warm weather and the beaches.(You can have all this ice and snow up North here! I lived there for 6 mo with my b/f who I am no longer with. I would be on my own and coming from a VERY safe area that makes me a little nervous. I am thinking gated secure condo or renting a room in a nice home from someone. Any tips?

Well the the do call FL the Gunshine state, as it is fairly easy to get a CCW permit. So if you are so inclined you could protect yourself. Though you would/might have to leave it in your vehicle at work. Some of the TV networks like the NBC affiliate in Tampa have a crime tracker as well, that you can look up that data.
