How to quickly secure a travel assignment from abroad with no recent US experience?

So i hear recent US experience is vital to getting a travel assignment. But that its not a rule written in stone. Any agencies out there that take in RNs with no recent travel experience?

I've been abroad working as a staff nurse, and now planning on returning back to travel nursing in the US. Med-Surg is my experience. All my licenses are still active. Appreciate any point in the right direction!

Every single agency hires nurses who have never traveled. It sounds like you have diverse experience though which is similar. You should be good to go either way!

Hey NedRN. So you don't think "recent" US experience is mandatory?

Nope. I inferred from the first post that you have staff nurse experience in the US. So yes, your recent experience is then valid. Maybe even if not but that is less likely.

Aha gotcha. Got both staff and travel nurse experience in the US. Been a while though since i've worked in the US, hence no recent "US" experience - but i've been active overseas. Any point in the right direction as to which agencies to check out?

Here is my broken record speech on this topic: Agency brand is practically irrelevant compared to your relationship and communication compatibility with recruiters. I'd talk to a dozen agencies minimum and pick the three best recruiters and sign up fully. That gives you a wider choice of assignments, helps you nail your market rate in a given location, and gives you options when first choice doesn't work out.

I hear you. I was thinking more along the lines of agencies that are more accommodating to nurses without recent experience in the US. I'm hearing a lot aren't.

More fool they.
