How much more study time than LPN program?

Published

I graduated last month from the PN program at my local community college. Classes for the RN bridge program at the same school starts the 21st and I was wondering how much more time will be required for studying in the RN classes?

I studied probably about 8-10 hrs a week for the PN program and made all As, however I know that I prolly need to up that to pass RN classed but not sure how much more time I should schedule for. What has your experience been with studying compared to lpn classes.

I have been offered the opportunity to work as a lpn but that will require more hours working than I am currently working right now.

Honestly, I probably study less than I did in my LVN program because I have been exposed to most of the material before, now I am just adding to existing knowledge. I find I study more for things I knew I had difficulty with in the LVN program (OB and cardiac were my weak points) but overall I spend less time studying.

It will probably vary. Yes, you have foundation but in my LPN-RN program we go over everything we learned at a deeper level, so there is still studying, some of it's review but a lot isn't. So far (in 6 weeks) I've been studying more and more than LPN. It is more difficult.
