I have a job interview for a casual LPN position in a hospital, and I was just wondering how many references I should have prepared for the recruiter. In addition, I have been unable to get in touch with my previous supervisor, does it look bad that all my references are colleagues from the interdisciplinary team?

I'd say 3 to 5 would be typical.

Have seen mainly requests for three or two, sometimes four. If you have five available names and contact info, you will be well prepared. Do not worry about whether they are able to get hold of the reference. You are not expected to have any control over that.

Most applications I've come across ask for 3, so have at least 4 ready (the 3 plus 1 extra just in case).
Most of my references are coworkers from the same facility and it's never hurt me.
