How long will my CNA program take?

Published

I recently decided that I wanted to become a CNA. I got my information packet in the mail, and I'm not really sure what I should expect. The Basic Healthcare Worker Class is a 90 core. It starts Jan 6th, The classes are Monday Tuesday and Thursday. From 4pm to 9 pm.

Now, the Nurses Aide and Orderly is a 75 hour skill/clinical and Monday's and Tuesdays from 4pm to 9pm And this starts in Feb the 19th.

I also live in Florida if that makes a difference.

I don't really care about the amount of time that it takes, I was wondering, because I turn 18 in March and would like to know if I can expect to have a job by then?

I'm currently starting CNA training in Maine and mine lasts from November 4th til January 17th. It depends on your state though. Every state is different with their requirements on how many hours of classroom/clinical you need to get your CNA certification. This might help you out: CNA Requirements in Florida | eHowlso there's this: How to Become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Florida - Yahoo Voices - voices.yahoo.com and that says to expect eight weeks to six months depending on the school.

In any case, I wish you good luck in your training :) just make sure your packet is completely filled out before you send it in. You'll have better chances of being accepted if it is.

I'll be taking my CNA course next summer and its set to last 5 weeks (4 weeks classroom, 1 week clinicals) with the schedule similar to yours (3 days a week, 6 hours long).

As for finding a job, it depends on when you finish your class. You can start applying to places when you get your certificate...how long it takes to find a job, only time will tell.
