How long from time of application to taking the CNA Florida test?

Hello, I am planning on taking the CNA test in Florida and I was curious how long it takes from the time you fill out your application to the time they approve you to take the test. Does it take a bit for them to do the background search, etc?

Hi SFloridaRN im a cna in Florida, it took 1 month (4 weeks) after i sent out the application for me to get a reply..they chose a location near me for me to do a background check takes (2-4 weeks) they received mine by 2weeks & then sent my exam date. All together its 1 1/2 month-2mth process but for the experience its well worth it. Hope this helps!

Everylasting, thank you for your response. I did my fingerprints and now I just have to wait. Do you happen to know how much CNA's typically start at in S. Florida? Is there a pay difference between retirement home and the hospital?

I work in LTC they started me off(w/ no experience) at $9.50hr & on weekends: $10.25hr. I now make $9.75hr for 11pm-7am shift. If you are a new cna w/ no elderely experience they'll start you off anywhere from $9.25-$12. There is a pay difference here between LTC & Hospitals. Hospitals here will start you off with $13, but majority require atleast 6 months experience but they have many benefit packets & may pay to further your education. Hope this helps!! :o
