Hi everyone,
So, I took a CNA class a little over a year ago in high school. I completed the class but never got certified. I THINK we had 2 years to get certified before we had to take the class over again. I want to get my certification now before I run out of time.
Before testing, I think we have to present a paper stating we finished the class, etc. Problem is, that was so long ago I - I've lost my paper.
Since I was duel enrolled in this college while in high school, does anybody think they would have this paper on file at the college & will I be able to get it? I can't test w/o presenting it.
Also, how long do you have to get certified after you've completed the class?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I don't know each state might have their own rules on this, but here in Michigan we only have one year after we pass our class to take our states test. If we wait longer we would have to take the class over again. I think you might be thinking of the two years as that is how long our certification lasts before we need to renew it.
I would first see what your states time frame is. If you still have time then talk to someone at the school and see if you can get a copy of your passing the class.
Good Luck

As the above thread said, it depends on the state. When I did my CNA I was in a MA program at the time at a local college. I didn't do my certification until two years after I finished the program. I think the only proof they needed was to speak to the college directly for verification. You should contact the college you did it in, since you lost that paper. I'm sure they can do a new one for you. Also, contact the state BON to find out for sure if you can still test for it without starting the program again. Best of luck to you.
