How Long Does It Take?

Hi,

I have just applied for the first time to St. Mary's CRNA program in Minneapolis. I am patiently waiting to hear any news. Could any successful applicants tell me how many times they applied to a program before getting accepted? Also, how soon after did you get the letter for an interview? Any info/advice will be greatly appreciated!

SeaRay,

I've applied to several programs and have been invited to three interviews so far. The general way it has worked for me is that I got an interview letter anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks after that particular school's application deadline. One school was later than that.

I have been to two interviews and did not make either program. I have two more applications out and am waiting for interview letters on those two. The two programs that rejected me let me know within a week or two after the interview.

Both schools that rejected me gave feedback in order to improve my chances should I choose to apply to them again next year. A big thing with some of them is the CCRN. If you don't get in the first time, go get your CCRN and take some classes. Keep in touch with the program of choice and let them know you are trying hard to get in the next time.

I will reapply to most of the programs I applied to this year (if I don't get in to the two that I am waiting on). I hear that your chances improve the next time if you have shown an effort to step it up a notch.

In any event, good luck to you. Let us know if you get an interview. Do a search on interview prep on this forum. There is some great advice out there.

ICUDOUCME,

Thank you for the reply. I have found a lot of good information from this forum. I just started studying for my CCRN today. Best of luck to you too.

Great advice there. Most program directors will tell you why you ddint make the cut, grades, GRE, experience, grad classes, whatever. Heed their advice, when you go back for a secind interview with them you can bet that they will ask and remember what they told you the previous year, be prepared and do what they suggest. best of luck
