How should I study for Science portion on TEAS Exam

I scored 50% on my science on the assessment A. How should I study for the science portion? Should I just study the ATI study manual?

Hi tbird88!

The TEAS V exam can be very stressful! I had more success with the Kaplan exam. IMO, the reading section is simple and straight to the point.

In the reading section they score you on comprehension, both paragraph, and informational source. If you are good at comprehending you should be good here. I recommend the ATI book, or Mcgraw hill for a study guide for this.

The math section is numbers and operations, data interpretation, and measurments. Know how to do the math in the ATI book (I think this is true to test). NO CALCULATOR!!! So get scrap paper ready lol.

The science....BOOO this is by far is the most mind scrambling section of this exam. They are testing Human body science, life science, physical science, earth science, and scientific reasoning. Know the following:

Human body: all anatomy and Physiology the charts in the ATI book are all you really need.

Life Science Mendals Law, punnet square, adaption vs. natural selection, DNA vs RNA, mutations, and genes.

Earth and Physical: Kinetic energy vs. potential energy, vaporization vs condensation vs. evaporation, ph scale, protons, and neutrons and electons, physical and chemical properties of water. THIS SECTION TO ME IS WHAT DOOMED ME! I recieved my lowest score in this section killing my science score.

Scientific Reasoning is pretty much self explanatory. If you've ever done a typical science fair board you will be ok here.

English:

Subject verb agreement, complex, compound, and simple sentences, spelling (very few), sentence structure, capitalization, punctuation, and dialogue.

ATI, Barron, and Mcgraw Hill would be your best study guide! If you have purchased A and B versions of the practice test through ATI you should do well. My school changed to the Kaplan (THANK GOODNESS) lol. There was this weird question about the bath tub on my test! I never understood that question! Research this board for other tips! A girl gave me tips on the KNAT and everything she said was on my test! EVERYTHING! Almost as if we had the same exact exam, and she took it 2 years prior. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

hi dear i took my tease last month i did good on my science section i got 78. i studied just 3 days. you should study all topics which are on ati manual but u should know science topics deeper then manual. in manual there is only basic info about each topic but you should know deeper.
