Hi I am new to this forum and working in Los Angeles.Just moved here 2 monthsago. Just wondering if practices in hospitals in this State are much different from New York and Arizona another the last 2 States I worked in.

If you read the nurse practice act for the state of California, you will find the most reliable information related to nursing practice. Whatever someone posts on this message board may or may not be correct, or it may actually be the policy from their facility rather than the full scope of the laws. Here's a PDF: http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/regulations/npr-i-15.pdf
I am of the opinion that every nurse should read in full the nurse practice act for the state(s) in which they practice. This would include reading it for every new state as well. It's the best way to protect one's license and ensure that you are practicing within the official scope of practice.
Well California is a different State to NYC so some things are a bit different. But other thinks are the same. But thanks I'll check that link out.
