is there any hope???

I graduated high school in 2002. I finished an LPN program through my high school at the time, but I was 17 so I didn't sit for my boards until a full year after completion of the program and failed it. I never tried again.... Meanwhile, I went to a University and nearly flunked out, as I was completely unfocused at the time. Now, I want to go back to school to be a midwife. And since my GPA at that school was literally 1.9 or something.... although my GPA at the community college I enrolled in 2008 is 3.2, they still combine my previous GPA making me ineligible for any accredited program out there!! Has anybody out there found a way to revive from a "young and dumb" time in their lives? I feel so stuck! I'm not interested in a program that won't allow me to fully pursue getting my CNM and MSN.

    Hmm - I encourage you to reframe your objective by looking at a step-wise progression rather than an "all or nothing" approach. Similar to someone who wants to participate in a marathon... you don't start out doing 26.2 miles right out of the box. So, by saying you are "not interested in any program that does not allow you to fully pursue getting my CNM and MSN" you are setting yourself up for failure at the outset. Break this into achievable steps - complete your pre-reqs with a competitive GPA --> get accepted in an RN program --> complete program with a very good GPA --> get a nursing job that will provide relevant clinical experience that will support your acceptance to your desired MSN program. . . and so on.

    So - yes - I think you have "hope" if you take a realistic pathway to your goal. Anything is possible with the right strategy and effort. It's up to you.
