Hello Oklahoma nurses. I am currently living In OKC and work in CCU. I have been an RN since July 1 and was an LPN for eight years prior to that. I would like to see OK participation, I know we have nurses on this website from OK.

I would like to hear from you all.

I know you are out there somewhere

Oklahoma Nurses come on! you don't have to give personal info if you don't want to but lets at least get some responses. Are you guys telling me that no Oklahoma Nurses have seen this post? bluh

Hi CCU NRS!

I'm from Tulsa. Currently I am finishing my job in the MICU and will be hitting the floors as an RN, hopefully. I'm an aide waiting for 0900 January 14, 2004 when I take the NCLEX. The medical center I work has made an across the board policy: No new grads in the ICU; even me who has been a nurse aide there for over a year. No exceptions. Had too many bad experiences I hear. My love is the unit so when I interviewed for a step-down cardiac floor, the manager asked me if I want to be a unit nurse. I said yes. She hired me anyway. I know it will be a challenge and I'll give it my best. We changed our nursing mode to an evidenced based clinical ladder type thing. We also no longer have the "this is aide work" and "this is nursing" type of atmosphere. Instead it will be like the 50's with one or two RN's and an aide or one RN and one LPN and an aide for each 10 patients. This has flexibility built in so it is easier to handle more unstable patients who may only need cardioversion or antidotes for whatever. The other thing is that everyone is responsible for total patient care within licensing regulations. I'm excited about it. We will be getting some new blood too since the hospital has been using attrition to get staffing down where it needed to and new positions are opening in the areas that matter. So what changes are going on in Oklahoma City?
