Nurse wanna-be
28 Posts
Hi,
I am thinking about going for nursing. As a cancer survivor,I know the importance of being a good nurse and I feel a need to give back. However, in the past (before this experience) I never imagined myself as a nurse because I didn't exactly like the sight of blood and vomit and the smell of hospital etc...
How do I know that this is something that I'll get used to and get over?

I would reccommend volunteering at the hospital or asking to shadow a nurse.. this might give you some insight about if it is really for you.
As for giving back, which is super, there are other ways without being a nurse if it isn't for you
:yelclap: And congratz on beating your cancer!!

The only way to know is to gain experience, dive right in...obtain a CNA certification or volunteer as the previous poster stated. If you begin working with patients your comfort level with the environment and the core atmosphere will likely increase.
I would recommend this to everyone who wishes to pursue nursing!
