I have been a nurse for a year now. My first job was in a hospital on the med-surg floor and my second job was in a rural health clinic. Nursing is not what i expectecd it to be. I don't know if it is the jobs that I have chosen, or is it just not for me. It seems like they just throw you out there all by yourself. I think it would be better if I had someone one-on-one to help me. I dont want to give up because I have worked so hard to get this far, but right now I feel like quitting. Any words if inspiration????????????????

Question: why have you changed jobs twice in your first year? This may well be contributing to your distress. One aspect of nursing is becoming comfortable at some level with what you know and don't know. If you keep switching you aren't able to get there.
Some places do just throw you to the wolves and clearly don't care to mentor you thorugh this beginning process. Perhaps you need yet another job - but you need to pick carefully, looking for a place that will walk you through with folks to help, answer questions and talk.

That first year out there is kind of like nursing school was...you have to dive in head first and don't look back. Just keep plugging along until that day it all comes together! When nursing school was scary and tough-you didn't change schools and you got it...maybe this is the same type of thing. (though much scarier, I am sure).
Maybe you would be more comfortable in another setting. Did/do you have certain areas you really want(ed) to work in?
I wish you the best of luck!
