Help! !!!

Published

I am a Lpn who took a break from my ADN program. Traditional school is so expensive and to spent another 10-15K on my ADN is kinda depressing, so im trying to figure things out. I just got accepted to ISU LPN to BSN and it probably is going to cost 15K, which is a better deal. Any LPN's in Illinois want to take this journey with me, or should I just go back to the traditional school ????? So frustrating.....

Hello LpntoBsn2015,

So are you still in the ISU program?

I was wondering about the four transitional courses. Did you take the exams for these? Some of the other threads here on AllNurses make it sound like those four exams are really difficult.

Mental Health Aspects of Nursing Practice (2 SH)

Nursing Care of Adults (5 SH)

Nursing Care of the Child and the Family (4 SH)

Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family (4 SH)

What study materials did you use?

Thanks,

Jenn

Hey Jenn, I have paid for the challenge exams and have all my materials in for the deadline of 11/1 for ISU. I have not taken the exams for the reason you have stated , ive heard that they are difficult. I plan to take my first one tomorrow so ill let you know. I dont think I am going to rush to take them, I just might wait to finish by the next deadline which is June 1st. I am in the process of doing business with Excelsior College so right now im not really sure which direction I will exactly be heading. Far as study materials to be honest ive been doing this for 10 years, what I dont know I wont know but I did study the Nclex book front to back and I brought all the Lippincott "Straight A's in Pediatric Nursing'', Straight A's in Maternal-Neonatal Nursing, Straight A's in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing , and Straight A's in Medical-Surgical Nursing. I found those books to be extremely helpful so I think im ready. Wish me luck and ill keep you posted.

Hey LpntoBsn2015, wish you the best of luck on those exams. So, if I understand things right, you will have to take all four of these exams before being considered for the program? Hoping that your exam goes very well tomorrow! Thanks for listing the books you were using to study. I'll get the same books.

How much does ISU charge for each exam?

I just signed up with Excelsior College the other day. Looking to get a few of their courses under my belt. I'm not sure if I want to pursue ISU's BSN or Excelsior's RN. Maybe keep my foot in the door for both in case one or the other does not work out.

Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes for you!

Thanks for writing back!

Jenn
