HELP...

okay so there's this person I know that was working on construction, working with an electric screw drilling device, he accidently drilled a hole into his middle thumb, i'm not sure how deep it was because there was blood covering the hole. According to him it almost went through his thumb. He's really stubborn and does not want to see the Dr. All he's done so far was cleanse it with hydrogen peroxide and applied antibiotic ointment to the injury. I'm really worried for him and want him to see the Dr. but he wants to let it heal by itself...what should he do? --would you highly recommend him seeing the Dr or will he be okay to heal on it's own and if so, any recommended home Tx?? thanks in advance for your help!
