Help!!!

Published

Hey everyone, I have been reading this post since nursing school and now I have decided that I need help from my fellow nurses. Currently I am an ICU traveler, but I really love the OR. I have about 5 months circulating/scrubbing experience, but to travel I need a full year experience. I would really like to travel as an OR nurse. I have technically/verbally "accepted" another ICU position with my agency, but there is also an opportunity for me to get back into the OR as a staff RN. My recruiter is so frustrated with me, because I honestly don't know what to do. Do I fulfill my "commitment", or go back into the OR, get the time under my belt and then go from there and potentially damage the great relationship with my recruiter?:o I'm so confused, I have until Wednesday to let them know. Any help you all have would be great.

Legally, if you haven't actually signed a contract, you are not obligated to take the travel job, BUT, like you said, if you have verbally agreed to take the assignment & then back out, you might damage your relationship with your travel company. You need to weigh what's more important for you- the OR experience or your relationship with your recruiter. If you take the OR job, you need to be prepared to find another travel company when you do decide to start traveling again....
