Help for pre-nursing students

Published

I discovered this wesbite after searching numerous things on google such as "how to get into nursing school" or "how hard is the TEAS exam." I figured if everyone who has been through these stages could share their experience on here that would be awesome and a great help for anyone wanting to pursue a career in nursing! Please feel free to share any of your experiences in getting into nursing school (ie. your GPA, TEAS score, application process, admission difficulty, what to expect after being admitted to nursing) and any other useful information you think a pre-nursing student needs to know!

I am currently a freshman in college and after staying up many nights researching everything I could possibly find about nursing, I decided this is what I want to be. It's good that I found my goal, however, I feel quite stressed after reading what many people have written about how they got admitted to nursing, their GPA, TEAS scores, etc. I feel like there is no way I'll get in myself. I was a straight A student in High school with a 3.9 GPA and I am quite studious. I have an A in every class I'm taking right now except for Chemistry. Because of my Chemistry grade (C+) I'm worried how my GPA will look few semesters down the road from this point when I apply for nursing. I don't know how one C will affect my overall GPA and if I finish the semester with a C I'm worried how I will do in other science classes. From what I've read before, people who get accepted have perfect GPAs and perfect TEAS scores so I am pretttyyy intimiated to be honest. The university I go to right now does not have a nursing program so I will have to transfer to a school that offers one. I am just lost at this point. I don't know what to study, how to maintain my GPA, what I should be focusing on right now. It's like I go to sleep stressed at night thinking what if I don't get in haha.

Can anyone that has been through this already help me out? I really need some guidance.

I just was accepted into nursing school!!!! Starting in January I'll finally be a nursing student!!!!

For the TEAS I studied the ATI study guide. I also needed help in the math section so my husband (an engineer......so he likes math [emoji44]) tutored me. I took about 1 month to dedicate to studying for that test before taking it.

As far as pre-reqs I maintained an A in all of them. I did this not only for GPA, but my school was based on a point system and you were awarded points for your grades in the pre-req classes.

I also elected to complete my CPR certification before applying so I could include that in my application package. I'm not sure if that helps at all, but it can't hurt.

You should see what your school's requirements are. Mine requires a 77+ for all sciences and math for example. You should also make sure you're fulfilling the right chem requirement.

All schools are different don't stress because you read stories here find out about yours.

So 1. Find out what possible schools you can transfer to.

2. Check their requirements

3. Meet with them

4. Concentrate on your studies now instead of what else you should study imo.
