I have to do about 40 story problem questions...and need the proper equation as to how to set it up. I haven't done math since 1st semester and now I am entering 4th semester this week and need to get a 90% on the first day! Please help me break this down so I can figure out the other questions.

"The order reads Amrinone 250 mg to infuse at 5 mcg/kg/min. The drug is supplied as 250mg/500 ml D5W. The client weighs 202 lbs. Drop factor is 60 gtt/ml."

a. how many mcg min must be administered?

b. How many ml per hr will provide the required dose?

c. How many gtt per min will provide the required dose?

d. How many mcg per gtt will be administered?

If somebody could please point me to a website or show me how to do this problem I would greatly appreciate it!

I attached a few good websites, and also attempted to work the probs. No promises they are correct since I have not done dose calcs in years!

a. how many mcg min must be administered?

202lbs / 2.2 = 91.8kg

5mcg/kg/min x 91.8kg = 459mcg/min

b. How many ml per hr will provide the required dose?

250mg = 250,000mcg

500ml x 5mcg x 91.8kg x 60min = 55ml/hr

250,000mcg

c. How many gtt per min will provide the required dose?

55ml/hr x 60gtts= 55gtts/min

60 min

d. How many mcg per gtt will be administered?

459mcg x 1min = 8.35mcg/gtt

1min 55gtts
