i am looking to go to school and i dont want to wait around to try and compete to get into a community college for lvn so i came across a school in arlington texas that does vocational nursing called concorde. has anyone went to that school and if so what are your thoughts on it. if you did go to school there was it easy to get a job and how much do you make in the dfw area starting? i also am very nervous about the net test, i am not so good at some math, what can i do to brush up before i take it? any suggestions would be great. thanks.

One of my classmates at TCC in Fort Worth graduated from their LVN program and now is having to take all her pre-req's over because the colleges here in the area won't accept her credits from there. Other than that, I haven't heard anything about their program.
Good luck!

I am an LVN who lives and works in Fort Worth, TX. Most facilities in the area do not care where you attended school; thus, they'll hire you as long as you are a warm body with a nursing license. My workplace is actually a clinical site where the Concorde VN students complete their clinical rotations and practicum. I never attended Concorde, but I did attend a school in Southern California that is similar to Concorde: expensive and fast-track.
In the Dallas metro area, nursing homes and long term cae facilities pay significantly more money than hospitals. The major hospitals pay LVNs an average of $13.50 hourly to work med-surg, and JPS Hospital starts at $12.50 hourly. Nursing homes start new grads at between $18 and $21 hourly. The job market for LVNs is rather strong here, especially for rehab care centers.
Also, visit this site's own Texas Nurses Forum for more information. Many DFW nurses and nursing students post over there, so you'll have plenty of resources. I have included the link below.
