Help, I need your advice please .....

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone. I am not ashamed to admit that I failed my first NCLEX attempt. I just got the report of my exam and discovered that out of 8 content areas, I got 7 above the passing standard and 1 near the passing standard. But it's all in the past now, and I am studying again for my 2nd take. I am not gonna give up.

My question is: it says in the Vermont letter that I can retake the test IN 45 DAYS. I am sorry if I sound silly but I need to ask if I may submit the retake application form to them before the 45 days or should I submit it AFTER 45 days? Is it ok if I retake the exam after (for example) 90 days to make sure that I will be ready for my 2nd take? Is it up to me to decide when I will take it again after the 45 days time period?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very, very much.

Sorry to hear you didn't pass fist time but do not think of it as a failure but a hurdle. You can apply now but your ATT will not be given until your 45 days are up and then you can book when ever you want as long as the new ATT hasn't expired. If you want to wait 90 days then I would say apply once 45 days have gone by

Good luck

Hey hi.. Sorry for that.. anyway we're on the same scenario I also failed.. You need to submit the form with the check again.. 45 days is very fast..If you gonna submit your application form, by the time they receive and process the papers 45 days is already over.. Uhmm, are you in hurry I'll suggest for you to take your time in studying and practising and calm down.. Now I'm in on-line course and I promise to myself I will pass this next examination.. (hope I can..) By the way when are you planning to take the exam again? What type of study method are you doing? Did you go to any review center? .. Goodluck to you...

Thank you to all those who replied. And to malefish, thank you for the great advice. I would like to try out Suzanne's plan this time. I heard that a lot of people have passed using this plan. I plan to take it again early next year. Like you, I want to pass it the next time around. I am having doubts about going to a review center. Lectures really don't work for me.

I will pray that we will pass the next time we take it.God bless you, malefish.:)

Thank you again to Silverdragon and Matilda.

That's wierd because where I am from, I only resubmitted the $200 for retake (on the pearson vue site) and got another ATT in a few days, with the beginning date allowed for retake (45 days later) and the expiration date of the ATT itself. I did that the same day I found out that I failed. I never had to submit money back to my state boards as I am still on the state board website "pending" a RN license. I do think that the application fee of $48 is good for 3 years with my state board though.

Depends on state but I know I had to pay mine each time I had to retake and passed on third try

You're welcome, I also don't like review center i feel more comfortable and studying alone.. When did you took your NCLEX? Where? Until how many items? Coz I also from the state of Vermont.. OK, try whatever we feel comfortable.. and do our best to pass the exam.. Goodluck and GOD bless you too..
