Hello my two classmate took the nclex-pn 2 days ago one of them said the questions stops at 80 and the other said the question stops at 82 this is strange for nclex-pn exam. the board of nursing said you have to get the minimum number of question which is 85 to pass. so to me that shows that they failed because the computer stop early. below the minimum. Any input

The computer doesn't stop early if you fail. For the PN exam, the minimum number of questions is 85. For the RN exam, the minimum number is 75. Probably what happened is in their anxiety they couldn't recall the exact number of questions.

i check the website of board of nursing and it says that the computer can shut up early and make a decision on you if you are not doing good i think that is what happen. they took the NCLEX-PN exam 2 days ago and their names is not yet posted and after 2 days in texas there is quick result for the candidate. this is strange for the computer to stop early. i think they failed.

Which board of nursing has that on their website? A passing or failing score cannot be determined without the minimum number of questions, therefore the computer will not shut off before 75 questions for the NCLEX-RN examination or before 85 questions for the NCLEX-PN examination. Every state in the United States agrees to this administration of the examinations and to the same passing standards. According to the Detailed Test Plan for the National Council Licensure Examination for Licensed Practical/vocational Nurses, "The NCLEX-PN examination is a variable-length computerized adaptive test that can be anywhere from 85 to 205 items long." "Once the minimum number of items has been taken, testing stops when the candidate's ability is determined to be either above or below the passing stndard with 95% certainty."
