I am an LPN in BC who has been working in Complex/LTC for 8 years with no hospital experience except 5 weeks while in school.
I have been applying to Acute Care on Interior Healths' website for approx 3 months for many different casual LPN jobs.
I am SO ready for a change to acute. I've known of many LPNs who have made this transition and done very well. But, I feel there is a certain stigma to LTC nurses; like we perhaps don't know how to properly nurse? Granted, I will need to brush up on a few skills, but I am very experienced in many other skills- assessments, communicating with Dr's, injections, dressings etc etc. Wouldn't a hospital prefer an experienced LPN over a new grad LPN (which they seem to hire alot).
I would appreciate any info or whatnot!! Help me get an acute care job lol !!!
Many thanks in advance
