Apply, apply, apply to every job you might even be remotely qualified for that is SAFE. Even without restrictions you are not safe around narcotics (if that is your drug of choice). You will only find a 'job' when you find an employer that 'understands'. So the more interviews you go to, the higher the chance someone will take a chance on you. I am in Chicago, have over 10 years clean. It will probably be a struggle for the rest of your career.

Thanks for the info everyone!!! I had a job prior to my probation being started once they found out, and not from myself, i think a fellow coworker who didnt like my saw it online told them they fired me. I was completely taken off guard because it came out of the blue and they have no policy or procedure there for nurses on probation.

Look into Clinical Research Associate (CRA). They monitor pharmaceutical research sites to be sure FDA regs are being followed. You don't need a nursing license, but they love nurses since our clinical background and education gives us a leg up on folks who aren't medical professionals. It usually requires some travel, but that depends on who you work with.
