I am planning on attend ecpi in va (mines is called skyline ) . But with me being 19, they want my mom to get a credit check so she can see if she can get approved for a parent plus loan .
She doesn't want any part of that , so I had my financial advisor call her. She told her even if she got approved she could deny it , and I would still be able to go .
And if she got denied for one it helped me more.
My mother says it sounds fishy, and doesn't want to sign but, I really want to go to school . Yet, it's all up to her.
Anyone have any advice , or ever had to deal with a parent plus loan
Thanks in advance

Have you tried researching cheaper programs that are nationally accredited. Sounds like this school is very expensive. Try all other possibilities before thinking of signing up there. It will save you money and trouble down the line. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and I pray you figure things out
Also, I just noticed you said ECPI (don't know how I missed it). I too was considering their program and felt their facilities were very nice but with their lack of accreditation and high price tag I decided to go elsewhere. Was also turned off by their aggressive admission reps aka sales people.

This seems like an example of their aggressive sales tactics. They don't want to give you a loan because you are so young and have no credit history - and no financial assets. By yourself, you are the type of student they fear -- one that will take a few courses and either drop out of fail -- and then default on your student loan because you have no means to pay it off. They want your mom to take the financial risk so that they will no have the student loan default on their record (which hurts them with the people who determine whether the school is eligible for the government student loan programs).
They may give you the loan if your mom refuses --but they would really rather have her on the hook for paying off the loan, not you.
My recommendation is to find a cheaper (and better) school.

Stay away from this school. Your mother's intuition about this being fishy is correct. There is absolutely no reason to attend a school like this. Go to a community college and get your degree from an accredited school so someone will hire you later.

I have to agree with the comments above. I go to ECPI and I can tell you now to NOT GO! It is expensive and plus (atleast the 2 locations in Richmond Va) the LPN program is struggling that the BON had to step in. I would really look into other nursing schools around your area cause ECPI is really expensive and not worth it. Its anywhere from a $32-36,000 program (they will add stuff to your tuition without telling you....its happend to a few girls in my class). PLUS you also gotta make some payments while your in school to towards your tuition. Good luck with nursing school where ever you go :)
