I am working ahead in my chem book prior to taking my class next quarter. There are a few questions that I would like to see how to efficiently set up. If anyone has time to show me that would be awesome!

How much glucose would you add to 100 ml of water to make a 0.5 M solution?

I calculated the glucose formula weight to be at 180. How would you set up the above problem?

Question two: If you have a 1 M solution of glucose what mixture of glucose solution and water would you use to make 1 L of a .1 M glucose solution?

Thanks for any pointers!

Alisa

Is the answer to the first question 9g to 100ml to make .5M solution? We aren't there yet...

I got 9g for the 100ml question too. You getting the same is reassuring! I was just wondering if there was an easy way to set up these types of problems.

The second one I am still working on figuring out.

Good question. There are several formulas in my book but it's all foreign to me still. I wish I could help! You are like me, you like to get ahead.
