Help on choosing a school!

Hello,i am a senior in high school and i am looking into college,i am going to get my BSN (hopefully!).I have been looking at different schools,so far i am leaning toward RCC then transferring to CSUSB to finish my BSN.

I heard about a private community college, where i can get my associates degree in Medical assistant then i could transfer to Cal Baptist to get my BSN,but that route is very expensive, and seems kind of pointless since i do not want to be a MA.

I am really worried about waiting list and credits expiring in my time of waiting to get accepted to a nursing program if i go through the CC route...

I took a CNA course through ROP at my high school, and i took my state exam and i am now certified, currently i am taking the Acute CNA course and will get my certificate in May.

I want to work through college.

My dream is to be an RN in the NICU.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for the advice!!!

Hi, be aware you are posting on a site read by nurses in all states so the initial of the schools may not make sense to us that are not in the same geographical area. RCC sounds like a community college, CSUSM ?CAl State USB??? Anyhow sense you are already a CNA, you can work in a hospital while getting your pre req courses. Do avoid the private schools, in my area, Kaplan/Aramark/Vista college are charging aroun $16,000 for MA, $20+ for LPN. Also courses at these private school may NOT thansfer to a university or community college. Check out all schools you might be attending, compare tuition costs, go talk to the advisors for nursing and find out if the waiting lists really exists. There are pre req courses at community college nursing programs usually. See if there are any ADN programs that are linked to a BSN completion program.
