Help! Can I make changes to my CA-BRN application?

Published

Hi all,

I made a very stupid mistake and am so paranoid - I am in need of some advice.

I'm a nursing student in CA getting ready to graduate & take the NCLEX. I recently submitted my RN-Licensure by Exam application online via breeze. After submitting, I realize that I'd selected the wrong school code, AND I entered the wrong address for my school.

Some explanation - My nursing program is a distance-learning program; its headquarters are in Utah but the California office handles all relevant clinical work for us CA students. I stupidly put down the Utah address, but quickly found that we were supposed to enter the CA address when applying (in order to avoid being incorrectly processed as out of state students).

Furthermore, on the portion of the application where you select your nursing school & school code, my school appears twice. I selected the first option I saw, which ended up being the wrong one.

My questions are - is there any way for me to get this changed? Has anyone experienced this? I'm worried these errors will complicate this stupid process even more. I I e-mailed the CA-BRN licensing department and I'm going to call them first thing on Monday morning (I've heard all the horror stories about contacting them...aghh).

Are you a WGU student? If so, yes you need to get it corrected because from what I was told in-state students are treated differently than out of state. So if you put the Utah code (they also have the program in Utah), they will consider you as out-of-state. Furthermore, being an in-state student will allow you to get your ATT much faster because your state director will send a list of graduated students to the CABRN even if they have not evaluated your transcripts.

Thanks so much for the reply! Yup, WGU student. Agghh I'm kicking myself for that oversight.

I'm going to call the CA-BRN early tomorrow morning and hope to reach someone who can help me. Any idea if it's possible for them to change application info like that?

Thanks again, I appreciate the advice.

I'm not sure if they'll change it or just have you fill out a new one. Also, when I applied (although out of state), they made me submit the transcripts that showed I completed my pre-reqs such as anatomy and physiology, micro, English, oral communication, psych, etc. The final transcripts do not show that those classes were completed, but if it did you wouldn't need to. However, I would check with your state board it might be something you don't need to do as an instate student.

Also, when you call the state board just keep calling and calling (press 1 then 2) until you reach someone or put on hold.

Hi! I am having a similar issue with my application and I am worried. Were you able to contact the BRN and make changes?

Thanks!

Im having the same issue. Can I have answers please? Thank you!
