I am currently enrolled in a nursing program and in my second semester. My first semester I did not pass a class and had to repeat it. After only taking one class and passing the class I needed to retake, I started my second semester. Unfortunately this semester, I have been overwhelmed with several personal issues and injury to my arm which resulted in a need for surgery (which I have not had yet due to the semester still going on). My concern is that I'm currently not passing a course and I'm not sure I will be passing after I complete my final.
Does anyone know the rules on applying to another nursing school after failing a nursing school in Louisiana?
Im hoping my school will make an exception due to the stress I'm under, but I understand that rules are rules and some cannot be broken.
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

Most schools will not take another nursing school's credits while enrolled in the program. And believe me, everyone has stress and a "special" circumstance. Did you communicate with your instructors before failing about your issues? I'm not trying to be harsh here, but the reality is I have had people in my class give birth and still show up for an exam that week. I'm not kidding. I've had a flooded basement with ceiling collapse and mold issues which caused me to do a whole entire remodel, I've got a jerk of an ex who has done everything possible to try and make me miss a class with my kiddo, made it to class and clinical with a migraine which was causing me to vomit for a week, have recently had my own personal health issues to deal with, and I don't miss classes, and I'm pulling As and Bs. These past months have been extremely draining personally. But we make it through. You may have to start over which may be a good thing since you have to have surgery. Take the time to heal and then try it again.

I would consult the college catalog or the advising department about the procedure for withdrawal for a medical leave of absence. Then, or concurrently, I would be getting down with my surgeon/PCP about my medical problem, in order to get the documentation to justify the leave of absence. If a medical leave of absence is not available to you, then withdraw. It will be much easier to come back, or move on, with a medical explanation, than allowing yourself to get booted over a failing grade.
I was hoping to sit out a semester and apply somewhere else and start fresh. I know this involves me starting from scratch and changing schools. I have severe ADHD and the state board has pulled me from all of my prescribed medications that was used to help me to focus and control my ADHD. I have gone through vigorous drug screenings, AA meetings, and NA meetings. I was made out to be a drug addict by the board due to the medication I was prescribed. I never abused ever. I took my medication daily at 6 AM for 6 years and suddenly I'm being asked to attend a rehab facility for 3 days with true drug addicts. Several hundreds of dollars have been spent on weekly drug screens, I'm even being denied pain medication for my injury. I'm not going to lie, I've felt defeated since I've started. And my depression and anxiety are a daily battle but I've never missed a class because I skipped. I've actually only missed one class due to a family emergency and I attended another section of the class. I wouldn't have gone through all of this to give up or make up excuses.
and yes, I did communicate with my instructors. I am by no means making an excuse for my failing. I'm just wondering if it is possible to apply to a different school after having failed at a previous school.
Entanglement with the nursing Board over the use of prescribed medication is a horse of a different color from having an injury requiring surgery and failing a course. You need to do some serious self assessment before you make any life changing decisions in the near future. Even if you were on great terms at your current school, getting accepted at another nursing program is no easy undertaking and is not a venture that should be undertaken unless absolutely necessary. Best of luck in getting your problems sorted out.

How did you get involved with your state board already as a student?
They required us to go through/register the board for fingerprinting, background checks, drug screens prior to clinical, and any sort of criminal background checks. It is a requirement for the state of Louisiana nursing programs.
