Hard to get into ADN programs due to reduced clinical staff or reduced school funding

I have a GPA 4.0. Have been in school now taking a class or two a semester and working through the LPN to RN program. I was ready to apply for the ADN program in May. We were informed that they are reducing the program from 45 to 20 students and incorporated a new ATI Teas exam vs. the previous NLN or Hesi Exam. They also advised already upset students to do the math of trying to get in. There is like 200 students trying to get in. Visited other colleges that want me to retake classes past 10 years from my old degree, ex English or add other classes not needed from the college I started at. No matter where I turn it is either more classes, retakes or have not been at the college too long, therefore not considered student loyal. I am 51 years old and have to work. This was a later in life career change. It just keeps dragging out. I really work hard at my full time job and give so much effort to maintain this GPA 4.0 and want this, but finding too many challenges to achieve this goal. Does anyone have any suggestions on other options.

If you have a 4.0 GPA and are a good candidate....apply! You have a great shot at getting in. Is it a points-based admissions process? Or do they rank applications based on other criteria?

This school might actually have issues with its NCLEX passing rates. The school may be under pressure to revamp the program in order to increase passing rates. I've seen increases in standards with poor programs who are struggling to maintain accreditation. This is something I would google to ensure that this program is even worth applying to. Search your state and NCLEX pass rate...

GOODLUCK!

Actually, I am going to try to change into another college at this point. Very upset and will probably have to add more classes, but I have to take the challenge and get this done. thanks
