GPA

Hello Everyone,

My name is Niceema. I am pursuing my dream to become an RN. I just completed my application to Neumann College nursing program and i'm now waiting for a decision to see if I get accepted. I just graduated this May from Community College of Philadelphia. However, I am concerned with my GPA which right now is an 3.00 to be exact. The requirements for their nursing program is an cumulative GPA of 2.5 for the science courses as well as an overall GPA of an 2.5. I just feel on the edge because my GPA isn't as great as other students I've talked to. However, with my circumstances, I work full-time 5 days a week, married, with one 5 yr. old daughter I think i've come far. So any advice you can give me I'd really appreciate it.:redbeathe:redbeathe

you should apply to more than one program and just hope for the best. I've heard of people getting into programs with a 2.8, it all depends on your competition at the time of your application. Don't listen to people who talk about how high their GPA is, sometimes people lie and you never know. Before I got into my program I just decided not to talk to anyone about grades all it does is make you second guess yourself. If u don't get in take nursing related electives and try again next semester... if being an RN is your dream don't ever give up!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank you so much. I just get a little discouraged when I hear about other students grades. Also, you are right when you say that they could be lying. Some people say things just to make you believe that they are in fact doing better than you but they really aren't.

You will do fine. Like the other poster mentioned apply to various programs. Also not all programs use GPA as the primary admission factor. Some school use lotteries. Some will want to know if you have medical experience such as CNA or volunteer experience at a hospital. Check with those schools and see how they admit applicants. Blessings O!
