I'm looking to purchase a tablet for reading books and pdf files.
I was looking at an 8.9 inch and 8 inch size tablet.
Something good for organic chem/psychology textbooks.
Any positive experience or regrets using a tablet this size range for textbooks?

I got the 7-inch Kindle FireHDX and I love it for PDFs and ebooks (though I am still partial to paper, but that's my issue, not that of the ereader). It has several features that make it easier to read (change font, background color, etc.) The 7 inch size fits into a lab coat pocket which is why I got it- otherwise I would have gone with the larger size.

iPad, dude. If it's in the budget, go with an iPad.
Thanks for the replies.
I would buy the ipad air if it was $200 cheaper. I have the mac book air and iphone.
I wasn't sure what size tablet is OK for eBooks. Iphone is definitely too small and laptop is too awkward.
looking at kindle fire hd 8.9, lenovo miix2 8".
No need for labcoat yet.

Good day:
iPad Air -- in addition to reading with the free Amazon Kindle app, there are other apps that can be helpful including but not limited to the following apps:
* Evernote
* GoodNotes (if you like using a stylus to take hand written notes) or Notability (for type written notes as well as built in recorder).
* iTunes University
* Medscape
* Pearson eText - if your school using labs from Pearson.
Along with a number of others....
Thank you.
