Good Accelerated Nursing Programs

Published

I recently decided that I'd like to become a nurse (hopefully a nurse practitioner). I definitely think an accelerated nursing program would be ideal, but I'm not sure how to find the best ones without an expensive and arduous trip visiting each school. Therefore, I'm looking for some insider help with finding good ABSN programs to apply to. I'd like to stick to the east coast although I'm open to other schools with a good recommendation. A women's health nurse practitioner program and a global focus would also be pluses. Any pros/cons about any school would be helpful!

I've been looking at:

-Johns Hopkins

-George Mason

-VCU

-Duke

-Emory

Here's my resume summary:

Biology Class of '16

Humanitarian Affairs Minor

GPA: 3.889

Rowing Club 3 years

Regatta Coordinator for Rowing Club 1 year

SPCA Volunteer 2 years

Summer camp job 1 summer

Biochemistry research 1 year

I'm also hoping to get some NP shadowing hours in, volunteer at a free clinic in town, and get a job at a local magazine before I graduate next spring. Based on my information, what ABSN programs would you recommend?

Any help would be appreciated! :)
