Going to Camp Shane. Any advice?

I'll be heading to Camp Shane in New York State for an 8-week stint as a camp nurse (1 of 3 on campus). Anyone else worked there? If so, any hints/advice would be appreciated.

I'm looking forward to the work and hoping to lose some pounds myself.

Did you like working at Camp Shane?

How was working at Camp Shane?

Sorry to take so long to reply, but I did not get an email notice of your comment. Working at Camp Shane was an 'adventure' to say the least. Learned much about camp nursing and about myself. Will not do it again!

I want to say that for anyone involved in camp nursing, a very worthwhile investment is a membership in the Association of Camp Nurses. This gives you a super-helpful quarterly bulletin (newsletter), and access to a members-only forum filled with dedicated and skilled camp nurses. Check out Association of Camp Nurses - ACN.

I recently returned from my first ACN Symposium and it was fabulous to network with other camp nurses.

Membership is $50/year or $90/2 years.

Thanks, Allison. Found out about this after my Camp Shane job. I am not currently looking for camp work now as I have to work full time year-round. But will check it out when possible. The Concordia Language Villages looks like a nice place to work with a reasonable work schedule for nurses. And it's great to work somewhere north of Texas during the miserable summers here.
