GN application vs RN + GN application (PA)

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I need some help. I'm graduating in the next few weeks and my school gave us instructions on applying for our license. It seems I have ONLY applied for my GN (I plan on working ASAP before taking my NCLEX) but the instructions said to apply for RN + GN (for an additional fee). My question is that when I pass NCLEX, will my GN revert to RN, or do I still need to apply and pay for an RN? I'm so confused and nothing online is really helping me out.

Thanks in advance.

Not all states may be the same. In mine, you have to apply for both if you want the GN permit. Keep in mind that as soon as you take NCLEX, the GN is null and void- you either pass and get the RN license (if you've applied for it) or you fail and are no longer able to work as a GN.

Thank you SO much! My school was not very clear on everything so I was unsure.
