Do you know what is the pay for a GI NP? I got a job offer with mid 70's a year in Texas. I am a new grad. Any suggestions are appreciated! What pay rate should a new grad expect? Does my nursing experience count?
Thanks

A friend of mine works in an acute care hospital in GI and makes 81K here in Houston. She's got 2 years experience, so it sounds about right.

I would expect mid 80's.Seems a bit low to me.But I guess it depends on duties.- outpt only and/or inpt rounding?- call?- wknd coverage?- clinic volume?- bonus structure?

Jeeze I thought that Texas paid higher than the rest of the country. I think thats too low. I would ask for a bit more if you can. Unless its offering amazing benefits like loan forgiveness. There were so many loan forgiveness jobs in Texas in out patient clinics when I graduated. I wished I lived there :). If you do take the job and they are not flexible with the pay, ask if you can have a 6 month review with a consideration of a salary increase. Just make sure they dont intend to keep you there for too long. Best wishes and congrats on the opportunity. Thats real exciting!
I guess maybe since it's university affiliated and a county hospital, it pays less. It's Mon-Fri, 8-4:30 inpatient, no call, no weekends. I don't know anything about outpatient markets, but acute inpatient pays the most out here with low to mid 90s at entry level. She left a private practice that paid more, but saw double the patients with call.
