Getting into NYU Accelerated Nursing Program

Hello All-

I have just started looking into applying to Nursing Schools. I have a long way to go but I wanted to get the process started as soon as possible. I am VERY interested in NYU Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2010 and I have a few questions. I would love feedback from anyone who was accepted into the program or planning on applying.

1. I graduated undergrad in business with a mere 2.8 GPA. If I get A's in all my prerequisites what are my chances of getting into NYU Accelerated Program? (My first year of college before I transferred I had a 3.3 GPA- don't know if this even makes a difference). What else can I do to increase my chances of getting accepted?

2. Is it more advantageous to apply for spring semester over fall semester?

3. I am very interested in later utilizing my Business degree/background with Nursing. What are my options?

4. I received a C in Statistic from undergrad- should I just retake the course?

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! I applied to NYU's spring 2012 accelerated program.... i'm really anxious to hear about everyone's progress! Went to Vanderbilt...3.2 undergrad... 4.0 in all prereqs ... super excited to move to NYC!

I just heard back from Pace's spring 2012 CDP 1 year program and i have been accepted to that. NYU is my other choice.. does anyone have any advice about that? I would prefer NYU and have definitely heard better things about their program. Keep me posted guys :)

what was your gpa? experience like?

I am applying for the spring 2012 nursing program at nyu for the undergraduate program. I have a gpa of 3.2 do i have a good chance of getting into the program?

applying fall 2012...3.9 from Berkeley (history), 4.0 in all pre-reqs, would it be okay to take dev psych online ( I know they strongly discourage online courses)? Also do they emphasize nursing experience because I have zero! Has anyone heard of stats of how many people apply/ get in? How early can I put in an fall app?

I have heard of all classes that they prefer you take the Developmental Psych class online however I am taking Stats online because it just fit better with my schedule. I don't think they necessarily emphasize nursing experience as much as they want to feel your desire to become a nurse, but I have heard they do look at candidates more fondly who have had some type of medical setting experience. As to what I've heard the acceptance rate is about 45% of the students who apply.

hey everyone,

i was just wondering if anyone in the program could tell me if i have a good chance of getting in.. my undergrad gpa is 3.1 (not great) and my prereq gpa is 3.56, but i believe a little higher.. ive also been an emt for 3 1/2 years and a volunteer for 3

Thanks!

At one of their September open houses, they said that they accept ~35%.

Good to know. When I went to the open house it was last year so it could be that acceptance into the program has gotten more competitive, yikes. Thanks for the info, I was unable to attend an open house this time around.

Hi ya'll!! I received my acceptance letter in the Email today :) I'm nervous about housing does anyone have any ideas? I live in nashville!!!
