Getting experience at a private practice?

As a nursing student, are we allowed to volunteer at any private practice for experience? My brother-in-law is a doctor with his own practice and I was curious if I would be able to at anytime volunteer to gain more experience while in school. Anyone know of the limitations of what we can do?

If anyone knows anything or any laws, please reply. Thanks!

I believe that you can be a CNA after one year of nursing upon approval from the school to work in hospital or any health care facilities...I would definitely check with your nursing department for confirmation. I think it's a great way to gain experience if you work in hospital cause it will help you later on in your last year of nursing school (I'm talking about the two year ADN program btw).
