Getting into an ADN program

Published

I graduated HS recently in Florida and was accepted to the University of West Florida for the Spring Semester of 2005. I am starting a Journalism major, but know I believe that I want to instead become a RN. UWF's only has a BSN program limited to 36 people, so I douibt I'll be able to make it in there. It seems that ADN programs are very limited. My weighted GPA in HS was 3.2 and I scored a 1270 on my SAT, 700 Math/570 Verbal.

I realize that there are preresequite classes required for nursing, and I was hoping to take these classes at UWF and then prepare later to transfer to a community college to get my ADN degree. Does anyone have a list of these specific classes and their number or identification?

Any advice on getting into an ADN program? Are they as competitive as they seem? Is it better to go to a more expensive private school? Thanks for your help!

hey-most prereqs include the ones that UWF has--so, just check with them and then at other schools they will vary by class number--

http://www.deaconess.edu has an online LPN-RN program if you want to check out their website/

best, hty/

Why would you go to a university and then transfer over to a community college? Why not just get your prereqs done at the community college you plan on transfering to. I've had a LOT of advisors screw up my schedules before and put me into classes that wouldn't count at another school so if you can start at the school you want to end up at you'd be better off. Not to mention junior colleges are way cheaper.
