I just graduated from college with a BA in Human Services. HOwever, I have decided in the past years to go into nursing after college. I will be taking prereqs this summer and then applying to accelerated programs. One of my questions is how hard is it to get into nursing school? Also, Do most accelerated programs begin in the summer? or do they have programs starting the the winter, when I will be done with my prereqs. One last question, should I apply to school while Im finishing my prereqs, or after they are all done, does it matter if they are "in progress". Any help would be great, im just getting started on this and have a lot of questions. Thanks for anything, guys!:)

Congrats on choosing a career in nursing! I wished I had gone to nursing school straight out of college (I almost did), but it took me 2 years of waiting tables and 5 years of IT work to take the plunge. I'm finishing up my 2nd semester of an accelerated BSN program right now.
Each program is different. You'll need to get in touch with the schools near you for specifics. At my school you can start either in the Fall or the Spring, but they take more people in the fall. At a nearby university they only start in June.
At my school you can apply once half of your pre-reqs are out of the way, and the rest are in progress (I think). I know I applied while I was still finishing up my pre-reqs.
Good luck! Keep us posted.
