Hey all

How many people have come across odd abnormalities in their practice? What were they? How did they effect your procedure?

The two major ones are atypical pseudocholinesterse and malignant hyperthermia. These both have a direct relationship to anesthesia.

There are others that create anesthesia problems because of pathophysiologic changes that may interfere pharmacologically with anesthesia agents.

A friend of mine, a CRNA, PhD is working on genetics research with an interest in the genetic components of pain control. This is an interesting cutting edge subject. Stay tuned.

These two immediately popped into my head. And I've had both happen to me inside of two years!

Interesting management when you get hit with one of these rare instance occurrences.
